The announcement has as a purpose to make understandable some important mathematical notions as well considerations relevant to the Science of Mathematics. A retrospection is made to the Mathematics of Babylonians and especially to their arithmetical system but also to their influence on the Mathematics of the ancient Greeks. In addition, the Mathematics of the ancient Greeks are described as well the greek Mathematics before Euclid's work "Elements" and finally a brief report is made on the life and work of Archimedes.
Η ανακοίνωση σκοπό έχει να γίνουν κατανοητές μερικές σπουδαίες μαθηματικές ιδέες καθώς και θεωρήσεις σχετικές με την Επιστήμη των Μαθηματικών. Γίνεται ανασκόπηση στα Μαθηματικά των Βαβυλωνίων και πιο ειδικά στο αριθμητικό τους σύστημα αλλά και στην επίδραση τους στα μαθηματικά των Αρχαίων Ελλήνων. Περιγράφονται επίσης και τα μαθηματικά πριν τον Ευκλέιδη, το έργο του Ευκλείδη "Στοιχεία" και γίνεται τέλος μια σύντομη αναφορά στη ζωή και το έργο του Αρχιμήδη.
