The origin of the river Kalama of Epirus is found in various Karstic springs which gush up at various locations of the examined area. The writer of the present study had been occupied with the geomorphology and geology of the area and he had marked on the geological map the following six springs: the spring of Vella's monastery, the spring of Mavronerio, the spring of George, the spring of Plavia, the spring of Kalpaki, the spring of Bourcha and then he explained their genesis. In addition he reported the provisions per second in cubic metres of water of various springs.
Η απαρχή του ποταμού Καλαμά Ηπείρου ευρίσκεται σε διάφορες καρστικές πηγές, οι οποίοες αναβλύζουν σε διάφορες τοποθεσίες της εξεταζόμενης περιοχής. Ο συγγραφέυς της παρούσης μελέτης αφού πρώτα εξετάζει την γεωμορφολογία και γεωλογία της περιοχής, σημειώνει επί του γεωλογικού χάρτου τις 6 πηγές: της Μονής Βελλάς, του Μαυρονερίου, Αγίου Γεωργίου, Πλαβιά, Καλπακίου, Μπούρδα και εξηγελι την γένεση αυτών. Περαιτέρω αναφέρει τις κατά δευτερόλεπτο παροχές σε κυβικά μέτρα ύδατος των διαφόρων πηγών
