There is wide agreement among scientists that increases in CO2 in the Earth's atmosphere, caused by industrial activity may bring about important climatic changes. Examining the greenhouse phenomenon under the light of geological criteria, the author has recently reached the conclusion that those industrial emissions are but a small part of the natural outpouring of CO2 deriving from the Earth's interior and must not be able to affect the existing temperature conditions. Here are briefly presented and discussed the arguments in favour of the said conclusion together with those of the opposite conclusions as they are expressed in the existing bibliography on the subject.
Στην ανακοίνωση αυτή παρουσιάζονται συνοπτικά οι νεώτερες απόψεις που σχετίζονται με το φαινόμενο του θερμοκηπίου, από την οπτική γωνία των γεωλογικών κριτηρίων. Επίσης, σχολιάζονται τα επιχειρήματα που χρησιμοποιούνται ως βάσεις.
